- Story Text: The troika attended emergency talks at the Cypriot presidential palace on Wednesday (March 20) where President Nicos Anastasiades was discussing a 'plan b' with banking and government officials to avert a financial meltdown after parliament rejected the terms of a European Union bailout.
The troika inspectors are representatives of the European Union and International Monetary Fund who monitor the terms of the bailout agreement.
Cypriot government spokesman Christos Stylianidis said the government was preparing various plans to try to find a solution.
Following a meeting between Anastasiades, political party leaders and the central bank governor, Stylianidis said that a a plan B was discussed which has to do with the financing of the 5.8 billion and its reduction.
The deputy central bank governor Spyros Stavrinakis, said the central bank is studying the various proposals.
Asked if he was optimistic after the meeting, Democratic Party Leader Marios Karogian said they were fighting to find a solution.
