- Story Text: Paris has always been known as a colourful city but lately Parisiens have become increasingly indignant at the spread of graffiti in the historic heart of the city. The walls along the banks of the Seine are covered by the works of unknown graffiti artist whose aerosols paint does not meet with the approval of the local citizens. Newspapers have called the burgeoning graffiti "unprecedented vandalism". The city authorities have also taken note of the problem. They have spent a fortune trying to reclaim walls from the blight of the graffiti which stretches along the river for kilometres. Most days municipal workers can be seen spraying powerful chemicals and rubbing down the walls to get rid of the unwanted paintings. But it seems to be a losing battle. Once cleaned, the walls present another "canvas" for the graffiti artists and they are soon emblazoned with new paintings.
