- Story Text: Players from the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) paid a visit to the Philippine Stock Exchange in Manila's business district on Friday (November 28), a few hours ahead of their upcoming match.
British star player Andy Murray and Slovak tennis player Daniela Hantuchova led the symbolic bell ringing at the trader's hall, before traders were given the opportunity to take photos with the players.
After the trading ceremony, Murray was asked about his recent engagement to his long-time girlfriend Kim Sears.
"Oh, I'm very much looking forward to it, looking forward to it, thank you," he said.
Murray, along with tennis superstars like Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams, is set to head the three-day inaugural match-up in Manila for the first leg of the IPTL competition.
Modelled on the successful Indian Premier League cricket competition, the IPTL format involves a five-set format made up of a men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, mixed doubles and a past champions' singles match.
The Manila leg of the IPTL opens on Friday, with the highlight on the first day featuring Murray taking on Cilic in the men's singles between the Manila Mavericks and the UAE Royals.
Further events will take place in Singapore, India and Dubai next month. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
