- Story Text: South Korea's President Park Geun-hye arrived in St. Petersburg on Wednesday (September 4) ahead of the Group of Twenty summit.
World leaders are gathering for the meeting which is being held in a palace outside the northern Russian city on Thursday (September 5) and Friday (September 6).
The global economy and the ongoing crisis in Syria are expected to be top of the agenda during talks at the two-day event.
The South Korean president arrived as shares in her own capital Seoul slipped on increased chances of a U.S. military strike against Syria.
The likelihood of a U.S. strike against Syria increased after John Boehner, the Republican speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor pledged support to President Barack Obama for military action.
Obama has taken a big political gamble by delaying military action in Syria and instead trying to convince a divided U.S. Congress to grant authorization for a strike on government targets in Syria. - Copyright Holder: POOL (CAN SELL)
