And this is what I've tried to express here. And I've done this sculpture for myself. It will be exhibited at a big exhibition of my works in Moscow and then it will be placed in the Museum, as long with the Mother Theresa's statue." SLV YARD WITH VARIOUS STATUES

- Story Text: Russia's controversial sculptor Zurab Tsereteli has unveiled a bronze statue of Britain's late Princess Diana, which is to be placed in Moscow's Museum of Modern Arts.
Zurab Tsereteli is best known in Russia for a series of controversial monuments, including a gigantic statue of Russia's reformist tzar Peter the Great. Now he has presented his latest creation - a bronze life size monument of Britain's late Princess Diana.
The bronze gilded statue will soon be moved from Tsereteli's studio to the recently created Moscow museum of modern arts. Tsereteli timed the unveiling of his statue to coincide with the Princess's birthday, July 1st.
The fate of a replica of the statue which is presently standing in the artist's courtyard is still undecided.
Among other monuments awaiting to be placed in the museum are the statue of Mother Theresa and Charles de Gaulle.
Zurab Tsereteli's statue of Peter the Great, which was installed close to the Kremlin, raised lots of criticism in Moscow both by the general public and artistic community who challenged its artistic value. Some opponents went as far as planting a bomb under the statue which was discovered before it went off. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
