- Story Text: More than two thousand twins have gathered in Thailand
in an attempt to beat the 'world record for twins'.
Identical twins from all over the country gathered at
Bangkok's Dreamworld amusement park, but they weren't quite
able to break the '3,961 set' record currently held by Taiwan.
Two thousand four hundred and forty-three pairs of
twins gathered at Bangkok's Dreamworld on Sunday (May 12) in
an attempt to beat the world record for twins.
They came from all over the country -- the youngest twins
just 15 days old, to try and break the record. But despite the
large numbers, there were not enough identical pairs to beat
Taiwan's record of 3,961 sets.
The fun began with a 'fantasy parade' -- dozens of twins
dressing up as fairytale characters.
24-year-old twins, Hathairat and Hathaikran Panyadee say
it's hard to describe the special bond they have.
"When one of us is sick, so is the other one. We are the
same like that, always feel the same. And when we are apart it
feels like we are still together. We like all the same
things".
Trophies were handed out to some of the more 'special
sets' -- like these 88-year-old twins who were the oldest
attending the gathering.
At 67-years of age, Mr Anan and Mr Anek say they have
never been apart for more than a month. They even sleep in the
same bed.
"We never argue with each other. We go everywhere
together. We are never apart for long," they said.
It wasn't just the youngest and oldest twins who were
celebrated at the special event -- awards also went out to
'Twins with the most beautiful smiles' and 'Twins with the
healthiest teeth'. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
