- Story Text: Luciano Sopranis models marched their way into the first day of fashion week in a samba-inspired show but the twice-yearly festival of frills started in a muted mood with the influential faces of fashion spurning the first few days.
Fashion week has mutated into a gruelling 10-day grind of almost 100 catwalk shows.
Coming hot on the heels of New York and London fashion weeks, most critics and buyers have opted to miss the first days of Milans fashion fest, arriving on Thursday when the likes of Moschino and Dolce & Gabbana kick off the big-name shows.
This may have disappointed but not stopped the designers who opened the week.
Fierce looks and Amazon magic accompained Sopranis succession of short jackets in alpaca wool over wide trousers or a miniskirts in the first day of Milans autumn/winter 2002/3 shows.
This year models present slim-fitted, short- skirted suits in fine pinstripe wool worthy of the smartest office, but given a splash of samba with feathers fluttering off a belt or gathered into a corsage on the shoulder. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
