- Story Text: French freelance photographer, Nicolas Reynard, has
been killed in a Brazilian plane crash.
French freelance photographer Nicolas Reynard died
on Thursday (November 11) when the seaplane he was
traveling in crashed in the Negro River in northern Brazil.
He was on assignment for three French magazines.
Another French photographer, Joel Donnet and the
Brazilian pilot also died in the accident.
Rescue workers had not been able to find the body
because of the dark waters of the river.
"The length of the river is very long and it is
difficult to see because the water is very dark and the
current and weather are not cooperating," said one rescue
diver.
According to National Geographic, Reynard worked
several assignments for them including one that culminated
in the first ever peaceful contact with the Korubo Indians
of Brazil.
Reynard's work also appeared in numerous international
magazines.
Reynard is survived by a young daughter. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
