A delegation of business representatives from fields including information technology, nuclear energy, finance and telecommunication accompanied Lajcak on his trip.
In 2013, two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Slovakia reached 417 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 39% compared to 2012, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce said.
Data from the Ministry of Industry and Trade showed that in the first nine months of 2014, total import-export turnover between Vietnam and Slovakia reached 309 million, of which Vietnam exported 289 million to the European Union country.
Cooperation between the two countries is expected to strengthen as Vietnam is looking to sign a free trade agreement with the EU in 2015.
After meetings with his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Binh Minh, Lacak also visited the Children's palace in Hanoi, built by the former Czechoslovak Socialist Republic in 1974. The palace serves as a summer school for thousands of children in Hanoi each year.
2015 will mark 65 years of formal relations between Vietnam and Slovakia.
