The off-beat romantic comedy marks the second time Bossell has branched out into a light-hearted role, following his debut in the Bill Bennett comedy "Spider & Rose," co-starring with one of Australia's most acclaimed actors, Ruth Cracknell.
Bossell, who admitted to mostly portraying serious characters such as drug addicts and HIV-positive gay men, said that he enjoyed the experience of making "Hotel de Love," and that director Craig Rosenberg kept it light.
"Hotel de Love" reunites two twin brothers (Bossell and Aden Young) and one woman (Saffron Burrows) in a love triangle ten years after they first met.
Rick (Young) and Stephen (Bossell) Dunne both fall head over heels in love with Melissa (Burrows) at a high school graduation party. At summer's end, both remain smitten, but Rick claims victory over her heart. Before Melissa leaves for university, she and Rick promise to write every day.
The plot then picks up ten years later when fate brings Melissa, Melissa's fiance, Stephen, Stephen and Rick's parents, a lounge singer, a psychic and a cast of colourful characters all to a quirky themed honeymoon hotel at the same time. The result is a farcical romantic adventure.
Stephen has become a successful, but lonely stockbroker who still dreams of Melissa. And Rick, who lost track of Melissa by neglecting his promise to write, has had a string of unhappy love affairs, and ironically manages the "Hotel de Love." A graduate of Questors Theatre in London and the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Australia, Bossell's stage appearances include "Top Silk," the Sydney Theatre company productions of "Titus Andronicus," "King Lear" and "The Jungle," as well as "A Winter's Tale" for Queensland Theatre Company. Bossell's many television credits include "Home & Away," "The Power and the Passion" and "Rafferty Rules." - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
