  • Story Text: London enjoyed a Tom Cruise/Nicole Kidman double act this week as the couple attended the respective premieres of their latest films, "Jerry Maguire" and "Portrait of a Lady".
    Oscar-nominated Cruise attended his premiere of "Jerry Maguire" at the Empire Cinema in Leicester Square on Tuesday (February 25).
    Fellow Oscar nominee Cuba Gooding Jr. and actor Woody Harrelson also were there.
    Cruise, 34, plays the lead role in the romantic tale of a hard-bitten sports agent who undergoes a life-changing experience.
    As well as a best actor nomination for Cruise, "Jerry Maguire" has been nominated for four other Oscars including best film and best supporting actor for Cuba Gooding Jr.
    On Thursday, it was Cruise's wife Nicole Kidman who was in the spotlight for the gala premiere of "Portrait of a Lady".
    Kidman plays heroine Isabel Archer in director Jane Campion's adaptation of the Henry James classic.
    The film co-stars John Malkovich as Gilbert Osmond, the dilettante who marries Archer; Martin Donovan as Ralph Touchett and Barbara Hershey as the mysterious Madame Merle.
    "Portait of a Lady" follows the story of a young American woman (Archer) who challenges the usual expectations of life among narrow-minded American expatriates in 19th century Europe.
    Both Kidman and Cruise are in England filming their latest film, "Eyes Wide Shut" with director Stanley Kubrick.
