- Story Text: Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) on Wednesday (May 24) staged military drills in the Black Sea off the coast of the annexed Crimean peninsula to prevent 'terrorist attacks and subversion', TASS news agency said.
According to the drill scenario, a drilling rig and a ship were seized by militants. Russian special forces approached from different sides, from sky and water, to defeat an imaginary enemy.
Around two thousand servicemen will take part in the exercises that will last for six days, TASS reported. The drills will continue ashore.
Russia has carried out several, unannounced military drills in the area since the annexation of Crimea in March 2014. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
