- Story Text: Manchester United and Ajax supporters on Wednesday (May 24) vowed security concerns would not mar the football party in Stockholm Sweden when their two teams play the Europa League final later in the evening.
Enjoying the sunshine in the fan zone in central Stockholm hours before kick-off, many fans said they were satisfied with the security in the city following Monday's (May 22) suicide attack in Manchester that killed 22 people.
Manchester United fan Jim Hardie, from Manchester, said he felt comforted by the huge police presence at the stadium.
"Obviously after the Manchester bombings which came as a shock to us all we are concerned but to be honest, I was at the stadium yesterday and the police presence is huge and the security people were all over the place so I think everything will be fine," he said.
UEFA announced that the game would be preceded by a minute's silence for the victims and that the planned opening ceremony would be scaled back.
Kick-off is at the Friends arena at 1845 GMT.
"We will make a party together. Both supporters we make one big party today. No fear, no anger," said Ajax fan Erik. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
