Story Text: Berlin's tallest building was struck by lightning during a thunderstorm on Thursday (June 22), with no injuries or damage reported.
The TV tower overlooks much of the city's east where construction of the Fernsehturm, as it is known in German, started in 1965 in then Communist East Berlin.
The 368 metre (1,207 ft.) high tower opened in 1969 and to this day it is one of Berlin's top tourist attractions with its revolving restaurant at a height of 203 metres (666 ft.).
