- Story Text: European Council President Donald Tusk quoted British singer John Lennon on Thursday (June 22), as he was telling reporters he still imagined a possibility that Britain remains in the European Union as the bloc's heads of states and governments were about to meet in Brussels for a regular summit.
Discussing the different possible outcomes of Brexit negotiations at a news conference after a meeting with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Tusk said the EU itself had been built on dreams that seemed impossible to achieve.
"You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one," the chairman of EU summits said, in an apparent reference to Lennon's song 'Imagine'.
In a letter sent to EU leaders before their two-day summit, Tusk said the bloc might slowly be at a turning point, with election results suggesting waning momentum in anti-European populism. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
