- Story Text: Heavy rain and thunderstorms inundated Germany on Thursday (June 29), resulting in certain parts of the capital Berlin being flooded.
Firefighters took to the streets to help divert water with hoses and pumps. Traffic slowed to a halt in many parts of the city due to the torrential showers.
Storms are expected to continue on through the weekend, particularly in the eastern part of the country.
Germany has seen more than its fair share of bad weather as of late. The German Meteorological Service reported heavy storms across the country last Friday (June 23), packing torrential rain, hail and winds of up to 120 kilometers (75 miles) per hour. Two people were killed in a storm in northern Germany, which also disrupted rail services into Saturday day (June 24). - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
