Summary:On August 18 1960 the American spy plane pilot (Francis) Gary Powers stands trial, and hears the court pass a sentence of ten years imprisonment for spying. His Soviet judges were given details of Powers' spy flight in the ill fated U-2 aircraft earlier in the year. Powers expressed regret for the ill- service he had done his country. In the end, Powers served less than two years of his sentence. In 1962, he was released in exchange for a Soviet spy held by the USA.
