- Story Text: Britain's Queen and Duke of Edinburgh watched a parade of thousands of troops in Windsor Castle on Saturday (May 19) to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee.
Six massed bands led servicemen and women from the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force in the uplifting musical pageant.
The event is designed to reflect the close relationship between the Queen and the armed forces.
More than 2,500 servicemen and women marched past the Queen in Windsor Castle before mustering in an arena.
Joined by other members of the royal family and other royals from around the world in the Quadrangle of Windsor Castle - her favourite residence - the Queen smiled and shared comments with her husband during the parade.
She seemed particularly thrilled at the climax of the ceremony -- a special flypast of current and historic aircraft, including a World War Two-era Lancaster bomber.
The monarch smiled and applauded enthusiastically as Hawks flew in an "E II R" formation and Tucanos flew in a "60" formation.
The event finished with a display by the world-renowned Red Arrows.
The Queen wore a turquoise silk, lace and sequinned dress with a matching coat and hat by designer Angela Kelly.
Philip wore the navy blue uniform of Admiral of the Fleet with the Garter sash. He was made Lord High Admiral last year by the Queen. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
