I like people, and secondly the way which I'm really different from Newt is I am massive worrier, I worry a lot. And there's a line in the film when Newt turns to Jacob and goes worrying means you suffer. And it's become my mantra to myself. So Newt has become my therapist." AUDIENCE SEATED (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTRESS KATHERINE WATERSTON, SAYING: "One if the challenges of telling the story is that it happens over just a few days, but it took over six months to make. So we really got to know each other over that time, but it was a challenge in a way to still feel like virtual strangers in the film. But yes, he (Eddie Redmayne) is an incredible scene partner and so engaged and inventive and creative, so yep, easy to work with, a little less easier to be around, and between takes. But no no no, he's a dream." MAN ASKING QUESTION WHILE OTHER AUDIENCE SEATED (SOUNDBITE) (English) DIRECTOR OF 'FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM' DAVID YATES SAYING: "For me 3D is a bit like music. You don't want it to take you out of the story. It's important that it pulls you into the story and holds all the emotion, and helps visuals obviously. So we explode the 3D like a piece of music, sometimes it was very dynamic and expressive and strong, and sometimes it was very very subtle. For example in some moments like Eddie and Katherine when they are saying 'goodbye' at the end, it's very subtle 3D, it's hardly noticeable because we want you to feel the story. - Story Text:Crew of "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," a prequel to the hugely successful Harry Potter franchise held a news conference on Friday (November 18) in Beijing, following its Nov. 15 premiere in China.
Cast of "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" including Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler and Alison Sudol, Director David Yates and Producer David Heyman showed up at the event.
The film stars Redmayne as Newt Scamander, a character that Redmayne said was very different from himself.
"Newt is not me. I like people, and secondly the way which I'm really different from Newt is I am massive worrier, I worry a lot. And there's a line in the film when Newt turns to Jacob and goes worrying means you suffer. And it's become my mantra to myself. So Newt has become my therapist," Redmayne said.
Waterston said a challenge was that they needed to feel like virtual strangers after knowing each other.
"One if the challenges of telling the story is that it happens over just a few days, but it took over six months to make. But no no no, he's a dream," she said.
The director said he wanted 3D as a way to keep audience immersed in the film.
"For me 3D is a bit like music. You don't want it to take you out of the story. It's important that it pulls you into the story and holds all the emotion, and helps visuals obviously. So we explode the 3D like a piece of music, sometimes it was very dynamic and expressive and strong, and sometimes it was very very subtle. For example in some moments like Eddie and Katherine when they are saying 'goodbye' at the end, it's very subtle 3D, it's hardly noticeable because we want you to feel the story," Yates said.
The film's world premier was in New York on Thursday (November 10), followed by international release starting Wednesday (November 16). China and Japan markets which open the following week are expected to be major remaining markets. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
