- Story Text: Foreign ministers from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) held talks with South Korean counterpart Kang Kyung-Wha and New Zealand's Gerry Brownlee in a regional meeting on Sunday (August 6).
South Korea and New Zealand are both ARF (ASEAN Regional Forum) nations.
North Korea's tests of intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM), are expected to dominate ARF's Monday' (August 7) meeting, which gathers 27 foreign ministers - including those of Russia, Japan, the United States, China and North and South Korea - to discuss security issues.
Taking a stronger tone than previous statements on the stand-off, the ASEAN foreign ministers had called for North Korea to comply with United Nations Security Council resolutions on its nuclear programme, and make a positive contribution to regional peace. - Copyright Holder: POOL (CAN SELL)
