I mean we were initially, I think we were initially thinking it was going to go to New York Film Festival and obviously, it's like it could not have been more of a New York movie. And also that we've shot in places that it's unusually uncinematic in a way. When you watch the movie it's kind of, it gives a kind of suburban New York kind of gravitas which I think is really interesting." It was like nine months, and also I love doing accents and it's just that I find it one of the most interesting things. I think you can tell a lot about a person from their accents. About what the area is like when they grew up in and how their parents are and what they've kind of gone through I think I just I think that's an interesting, it's like learning how to sing in a way. But I always loved doing it." PHOTOGRAPHER TAKING PICTURES PATTINSON POSING WITH DIRECTORS JOSH SAFDIE AND BENNY SAFDIE (SOUNDBITE) (English) ROBERT PATTINSON, ACTOR, SAYING: "Jail that is. And it was when I was shooting another movie and in Colombia in the rainforest and trying to pretend to be in jail in New York with Benny (Safdie), my brother. And we didn't know each other that well at the time. It's fascinating because I haven't really done anything like that before with another actor anyway." PATTINSON LISTENING TO REPORTER QUESTION (SOUNDBITE) (English) ROBERT PATTINSON, ACTOR, SAYING: "Well, initially I just love this photograph that they took, it's a still from the last movie which I thought was really powerful and I had an instinct about it. And then I just met them in L.A. and they just I could just feel they I could feel that they had a potential that hadn't been fully tapped into yet, or fully realized by other people. So it's very exciting to me finding somebody first. I mean that's like it's always what I want to do." But yes. How was that? It was or was it just it was part of the film. There wasn't anything we were working off of each other and we were working off of a lot of the back story that we built up together. So it felt like it was deep there was some connection there." SAFDIE BROTHERS SPEAKING WITH REPORTER (SOUNDBITE) (English) JOSH SAFDIE, DIRECTOR, SAYING "Weirdly the first thing that I thought when he (Robert Pattinson) reached out was he doesn't fit in the project we were trying to make so. But you know, he has a uniqueness to his likeness he has a real I don't know he has like a megastar quality to him but not in like a tabloid sense, a classic sense, a gravitational pull sense. And so we knew that that would could make something in the popcorn vein and sneak in ideas."

- Story Text: Hollywood mega-star Robert Pattinson premiered his latest film, "Good Time" in New York on Tuesday (August 8), bringing home the movie to the place of its setting.
"Good Time" is a crime thriller set in Queens, New York, and tells the story of Constantine "Connie" Nikas, who after a failed bank robbery lands his younger brother in prison. What follows is a twisted odyssey through the city's underworld in an increasingly desperate attempt to get his brother Nick (Benny Safdie) out of jail.
Pattinson, who famously portrayed vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight series, said it was "amazing" to be back in New York.
"It could not have been more of a New York movie. And also that we've shot in places that it's unusually uncinematic in a way. When you watch the movie it's kind of, it gives a kind of suburban New York kind of gravitas which I think is really interesting," he told Reuters.
Pattinson reached out to directing brothers Josh and Safdie first, after seeing a still from their previous movie "Heaven Knows What."
After initial contact the brothers wrote the film specifically with Pattinson in mind. But Josh Safdie said that initially he thought Pattinson was not going to be a good fit for their projects, gritty urban thrillers, that the brothers call "operas of the streets."
To completely become New York native Connie, Pattinson perfected his Queens accent and had letter correspondence with Benny Safdie, who stars as Connie's brother Nick alongside Pattinson in the film.
"It was when I was shooting another movie and in Colombia in the rainforest and trying to pretend to be in jail in New York with Benny (Safdie), my brother. And we didn't know each other that well at the time. It's fascinating because I haven't really done anything like that before with another actor anyway," Pattinson said.
Actress Demi Moore came out to support the film that also stars Oscar-nominated actor Barkhad Abdi.
