- Story Text: Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams spoke on Thursday (March 12) at Seton Hall University in New Jersey, just hours after his meeting with British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams seemed upbeat about his recent meeting with the Britsh Prime Minister.
Adams called the talks with Prime Minister Blair frank and thorough, and said they discussed changes they wanted to see enacted, and described the search for peace in Ireland "a search for justice." Sinn Fein representatives met the British Prime Minister to discuss the group's reentry into peace talks after their expulsion three weeks ago.The group, which is the political arm of the Irish Republican Army, was banned from the talks after being accused of two murders.
But speaking to reporters at the press conference, Adams indicated that Sinn Fein was ready to rejoin the multi-party peace talks.
Adams seemed encouraged by his meeting with Blair, saying he found it "intriguing" to exchange views with the head of the British government, and claiming that Blair had the capacity to bring peace between Ireland and Britain, and to the island of Ireland.
