- Story Text: More than 10,000 people, attended a mass rally in Bangkok to demand the expulsion of former Thai military ruler, Field Marshal Thanom Kittachorn.
The rally.....organised by thai student groups.....was the first mass public demonstration against the former Field Marshal who has returned to Thailand and entered the Buddhist priesthood.
Student leaders told the crowd that they had been refused a meeting with Thai Prime Minister, Mr. Seni Pramoj. The students said that if the Prime Minister did not expel Field Marshal Thanom then left wing groups throughout the country would be forced to take what they termed, "further action."
Riot squad police were on hand throughout the demonstration but there were no violent incidents.
