Summary:Nineteen months after being seized by Israeli agents and taken to Israel for trial, Adolf Eichmann, 55-year-old ex-SS colonel responsible for the extermination of millions of Jews during the German occupation of Europe, was found guilty on four major counts - three of which carried the death sentence. It was on December 11 1961. Eichmann stood in a special glass-enclosed dock as the verdicts were read out in the Jerusalem district court.
