- Story Text: South Korean president Moon Jae-in unveiled the medals of the upcoming Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in New York on Wednesday (September 20), on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
Moon unveiled the medals at the Metropolitan Museum of Art that was transformed into a restaurant for the occasion, and said that the country is safe to host the global event amid rising tensions over North Korea's nuclear weapons programs.
At a press conference Roh Tae-kang, South Korea's Vice Minister for Tourism said that they are aware of security concerns, and that they are doing everything to keep everybody safe.
He also said that he expects North Korea to participate in the winter games "prove that they are not isolated in the world."
Pyeongchang, the first Asian host of the Winter Olympics outside Japan, will stage the event on Feb. 9-25. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
