But we're here. We're a third of the way. And we're feeling pretty good about it. We'll feel even better when we get our Russian clearances" 2.58 13. CU: CLOSE OF LOCATOR WATCH THAT POSSIBLY SAVED COLIN BODILL'S LIFE WHEN FLYING OVER CHINA WHEN IT SIGNALLED TO THE CHINESE AIRFORCE THAT HE WAS IN DISTRESS 3.01 14. MCU: (SOUNDBITE)(English) BODILL SAYING "Initially I was being circled by fighter jets, which is not a comfortable position to be in, and they were flying very close and caused a lot turbulence, which almost destroyed my aircraft. Whether the pilots realised this or not, I don't know. But then I dived down low so they couldn't circle tight anymore. And they started firing anti-aircraft missiles, flares, which was a bit disturbing because they do go off with quite a bang. The only thing I could do there was to land instantly which I was -- looking for somewhere to land but of course its all paddy fields, flooded fields.. so it was very difficult. I found a dried out prawn breeding field which I managed to get down on. And then the army came and arrested but after that dramatic business, relationships built up and over a period of three days I actually brought together the army, the airforce, the navy and secret service - the lot which never worked together in this way. So that was a first for them. In fact, they said I made two lots of history. The first to land a private aircraft in Chinese military airspace and still be alive and secondly bring in all these departments together. It got so friendly in the end, that they all came to see me off in the morning at six o'clock in the morning. Giving me big handshakes and hugs and begging me to come back and visit again. It did end up a good PR trip." 4.31 15. GV/CU: INTERNET SITE WITH UPDATED OF THE NOW CHALLENGE (4 SHOTS) 4.49 16. MCU: (SOUNDBITE)(English) MURRAY SAYING: "I actually think for sheer spectacular stuff that Baluchistan coast in Pakistan is utterly amazing. But then also these Japanese islands are magic. Going over volcanoes, and then with the coral islands interspersed.. it doesn't get more beautiful than that" 5.32 COAST OF BALUCHISTAN, PAKISTAN (JUNE 14-15, 2000) ('NOW' HANDOUT/SCHEDULED BROADCAST NEWS BULLETINS ONLY/NO ACCESS INTERNET/SEE ABOVE FOR FURTHER RESTRICTIONS) 20.
