I was supposed to fly from Duesseldorf to Frankfurt. So I tried to make it with a cab. But that obviously did not work since I seemed to have missed my flight here." (SOUNDBITE) (German) PASSENGER EUGEN HOFFMANN, SAYING: "On my drive here this morning I received a text, saying that my flight was cancelled. Great service, after all. Up there it is, OS 134. And immediately afterwards, there was another text, saying that I have been rebooked to this afternoon, 16.50. Now I have to kill time here at the airport for some 7 hours. I'm now waiting for a call from my boss whether I need to fly at all, before I'll go and get my boarding card." QUESTION FROM OFF: NOT THAT NICE, ISN'T IT? "Well, you can't do anything about it, can you? It's the weather. I travel every week and you encounter those things all the time - from train cancellations, flight cancellations - especially now, in the current weather. You can't do anything about it, it's beyond control." BOARD WITH ANNULLED FLIGHTS 12, PASSENGERS AT LUFTHANSA DESK WIDE DEPARTURE HALL

- Story Text: Snowfall has forced Frankfurt airport to cancel numerous flights on Monday (December 18). Some 174 flights have been cancelled until 9 o'clock local time (0800GMT), according to a Fraport spokeswoman. Normally, there are about 1,500 starts and landings per day.
Most stranded travellers took the cancellation of their flight in the stride: "Well, you can't do anything about it, can you? It's the weather," passenger Eugen Hoffmann told Reuters TV. "I travel every week and you encounter those things all the time - from train cancellations, flight cancellations - especially now, in the current weather. You can't do anything about it, it's beyond control."
At the moment there is only moderate snowfall, exact predictions about future cancellations during the day could not be made yet, said the spokesperson.
The weather is expected to improve over the next days, the weather forecast reported. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
