- Story Text:A group of Palestinians want to show historical Gaza to the world. They believe a mobile application will be the best idea to achieve their objective.
And so they are documenting archaeological sites in Gazan for a digital project.
The app is called Kanaan, also spelt Canaan, an ancient name of the region.
It provides users with the multimedia resources and information about the historical face of Gaza.
'Kanaan' has been founded by architect Nisma al-Sallak, who secured a fund from the European Union to start the project.
She says the app with encourage Palestinian youth to connect with their heritage.
The team have relied on self-learning to overcome technical hurdles.
For team member Mahmoud al-Balaawi, the conflict with Israel lies at the heart of the application's idea.
The team plans to include historical sites in the West Bank and Jerusalem as well.
The final version of the mobile application will be available for Android system users in January 2018. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
