- Story Text:talian Stefano Passeri has won the fifth running of
the spectacular Erzberg Rodeo "Red Bull Hare Scramble".
Over a thousand participants took part in the event to
master the 1000 metre high Ore Mountain which dominates the
beautiful Erzberg region.
A mass start kicked off the first day of competition where
1000 riders lined up in rows of ten for an attempt to catapult
themselves along the 30 kilometre track to the top of the
mountain.
The best 500 riders on the first day qualified for the
final of which 48 reached the final checkpoint and only 25
reached the top.
In a race against time, endurance and a constant fight
against the rocks and dust of the Ore Mountain, Passeri
reached the top in the quickest time.Spaniard Juan Roma
finished second with Italian Giovanni Sala third.
The top six places were taken by KTM riders. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS - SOURCE TO BE VERIFIED
