College All-Star Competition. Each country collected its best college baseball players for the biennial battle. The series takes place in Japan and the U.S.A. on alternate years. This year Ken Landro of Arizona State has been the hitting hero. Landro blasted triples in two of the three games in the mid-West to drive in five runs with those two hits alone. As the series swings to Los Angeles, the Americans lead four to one, but Southern Cal coach Rod Dado says the Japanese play more like the Americans each year. DADO: Their boys can pitch and this is I think their closest similarity, Lee, in their pitching. But they have boys now who have grown in size and stature, and their hitting theory is different. There's no more just hit and run and butt and can swing their bat and they can hit them right out of the ball park." "From the Japanese-American World College series in Omaha, this Lee Stevens reporting."
