That's important to note. I do not see a certification. I see an evaluation, not a certification. We should expect YPFB to really confirm that this is a certification of reserves on one hand and on the other, what we have to analyse is whether the data that the Sproule construction company has worked with are data obtained by them or are data provided by YPFB." - Story Text: Bolivia's proven natural gas reserves grew slightly to 10.7 trillion cubic feet as of the end of 2017, Sproule International Ltd, the Canadian company in charge of certifying the country's gas reserves said on Wednesday (August 29).
The last time Bolivia had certified its reserves was in 2013, when another Canadian company, GLJ Petroleum Consultants found 10.45 trillion cubic feet in proven gas reserves, and 3.5 trillion cubic feet in probable reserves and 4.15 trillion in possible reserves.
Since then, the Bolivian government and the state-controlled oil company YPFB have launched exploration projects backed by millions of dollars in international investments.
In addition to the 10.7 trillion cubic feet in proven gas reserves, Sproule president Cameron Philip said the country had 12.5 trillion probable reserves and 14.7 trillion possible.
Including probable reserves, Bolivia has an estimated 17.1-year supply of natural gas, Philip said.
Gas consumption in Bolivia is between 0.7 trillion and 0.8 trillion cubic feet annually, including the internal market and exports to Brazil and Argentina, according to the oil and gas ministry. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
