The mural of a child holding a pink flare on a building in Venice is another Banksy creation, the graffiti artist's publicist has confirmed.
A photograph of the mural was also posted on Banksy's Instagram account on Friday (May 24) at just after 1330GMT, and received over 400,000 likes within one hour.
It shows a young child purporting to be wearing a life-jacket holding high a flare that is streaming pink smoke.
This is the second piece of art by the British street artist to appear in the northeastern Italian city known for its canals in one week.
Banksy posted a video on a social media website on Wednesday (May 22) of them "setting out their stall" at the prestigious art exhibition, Venice Biennale.
The caption of the video posted to Banksy's Instagram page said: "Despite being the largest and most prestigious art event in the world, for some reason I've never been invited."
The video showed a person purporting to be Banksy setting up a street stall with oil paintings creating an image of a yacht in the Venice canal with a sign reading "Venice in oil".
After being removed from the area by security for not holding a permit, the artist packed up and left with the yacht seen in the canal behind.
