- Story Text: The 27-year-old mother of a Palestinian toddler killed in a July arson attack on a West Bank home died on Monday (September 7) of burns , the third victim after her husband died last month.
Suspected Jewish attackers torched the home of Saad Dawabsheh in the West Bank village of Duma on July 31, killing his 18-month-old son, Ali. Saad died on August 9.
A hospital spokeswoman confirmed Riham Dawabsheh passed away after midnight at Israel's Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan.
A second son was also hospitalised in the same hospital in serious condition.
In the West bank town of Duma, mourners started to gather at a mourning tent erected in the yard of the local school where Riham Dawabsheh worked as a teacher. A funeral procession is expected to take place later on Monday.
Riham's uncle, Suleiman Dawabsheh pledged to continue fighting to end the Israeli occupation in the West Bank.
"This is a message to the entire Israeli government, the military, the herds of settlers and the intelligence. The blood of these martyrs will not discourage us. We are responsible in front of God, in front of our children and in front of ourselves. We will not back away from liberating Palestine," he said.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has described the attack as an act of terrorism and his security cabinet has ordered a crackdown on violent far-right Jewish groups in a similar vein to actions taken against Palestinian suspects.
The government has allowed harsher interrogations of suspected Jewish militants with methods once reserved for Palestinians and has also started detaining citizens suspected of political violence against Palestinians without trial. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
