- Story Text: Bindi Irwin, daughter of late Australian conservationist and "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin, got engaged on her 21st birthday on Wednesday (July 24).
Irwin who has carried on her father's conservation work announced the news on her social media accounts and showed off her ring, saying of American boyfriend of nearly six years, Chandler Powell, on Instagram: "On my birthday I said 'yes' and 'forever' to the love of my life."
"Chandler, close to 6 years ago I fell in love with you and every day since has been a whirlwind of adventure and true happiness. I'm so looking forwarding to spending our forever together as your wife," Bindi added.
"Here's to a lifetime of friendship, purpose and unconditional love. - Now let's get married already!"
Irwin Sr., who was watched by audiences around the world in his popular television programmes, died in 2006 after a stingray's serrated barb pierced his heart while filming off Australia's northern Great Barrier Reef.
His family that also includes wife Terri and son Robert has continued his wildlife conservation work since Irwin's untimely death.
In October last year they launched a television show about continuing Irwin's work on Animal Planet called "Crikey! It's the Irwins".
