- Story Text: The artworks by Nikolai Nasedkin are made with wide strokes and have vivid dark textures - Russian artist uses not only paint but crude oil suspensions in his creations.
An exhibition by Nasedkin opened in Moscow's New Tretyakov gallery on Wednesday (September 18) and includes large scale paintings as well as art objects and videos made in the artists home village of Aleshki in Russia's central Voronezh region.
According to the exhibition's supervisor Kirill Svetlyakov, Nasedkin's artwork is an attempt to show modern Russia and to comprehend the significance of oil in the history of the country.
The artist himself says the oil is just a material. He has been using it in his artwork for the last decade despite health risks of working with poisonous suspension vapours.
The exhibition will be opened till November 11.
