How can they decide on something which is going to affect our children and grandchildren's future for generations ahead in 48 hours? It's ridiculous. Things are changing daily, hourly at the moment and our politicians need time to really scrutinise all the consequences of this deal, which seems at even first glance to be a really rubbish deal." PLACARD READING (English): "MAY'S DEAL, JOHNSON'S DEAL" WITH IMAGE OF PIGS FLYING (SOUNDBITE) (English) PROTESTER, GEORGINA HART, SAYING: "So, the answer is not just to drive it through because we can't be bothered to sort it out properly. We've got to take our time over this, we've got to go back to the people, we've got to do a lot more thinking about it. It's not alright just to say, well it's been three years and we're all getting bored with it, no." - Story Text:Hundreds of thousands of Britons marched through London on Saturday (October 19) to demand a new Brexit referendum and celebrated as lawmakers in parliament voted to postpone Britain's departure from the European Union.
The protesters waved EU flags under sunny skies and held placards that employed creativity and humour, while the mood a protesters ranged from anger to despair. Many railed against political leaders championing Brexit for being elite and out of touch.
The crowd clogged vast stretches of central London, with thousands of people waiting to begin the march at Hyde Park by the time others had reached parliament as lawmakers held the first Saturday session since the 1982 Falklands war.
After more than three years of debate, it is still uncertain how, when or even if Brexit will happen as Prime Minister Boris Johnson tries to pass his new Brexit deal and plots a way out of the deepest political crisis in a generation.
