- Story Text: Hundreds of protesters took to the streets in the western French city of Nantes on Tuesday (December 17) in continuing protests against President Emmanuel Macron's proposed plan of pension reforms.
Striking workers from major workers' union CGT, high school students, feminist activists and others peacefully marched next to Nantes' historic castle to oppose the reforms.
The protest in Nantes is part of a series of actions set to unfold across France on Tuesday as unions try to bring new momentum to the general strike that began almost two weeks ago and has crippled France's public transport network.
Hundreds of thousands of protesters turned out for the first day of protests on Dec. 5.
