I want you to know that I've faced these kinds of proceedings many times -- from 1989 when I assumed the leadership of one of the Tropics of Cochabamba Federations (coca grower organization), until the government of (former Bolivian President) Carlos Mesa in 2005. In my opinion, I've won them all and, in my experience with the union, it was very important to equip ourselves with good criminal and constitutional lawyers. That has been of much help to free me and win all the respective cases." VARIOUS OF MORALES POSING FOR PHOTOGRAPH WITH ZAFFARONI AND FERREYRA

- Story Text: Appearing with two high-profile constitutional and defense lawyers, former Bolivian President Evo Morales vowed on Thursday (January 2) to beat charges of sedition and terrorism, weeks after the interim government of Jeanine Anez issued an arrest warrant for him.
Sitting by his side in the Buenos Aires hotel were former Argentine Supreme Court Judge Raul Zaffaroni, a specialist in constitutional law and a judge on the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, and constitutional lawyer Gustavo Ferreyra. Both attorneys told journalists they were willing to form part of Morales' defense team.
Long-time leftist leader Morales, who led Bolivia for 14 years, resigned under pressure in November and left the country for Mexico after being granted asylum there.
He subsequently moved to Argentina, just days after the inauguration of Peronist President Alberto Fernandez. Morales was granted asylum in Argentina and had requested "definitive refugee status," Argentina's Interior Ministry said.
Anez took over by default after Morales stepped down, and has made sharp policy shifts away from his socialist government. She accuses Morales of stirring unrest since resigning.
