- Story Text: They come in all shapes and sizes - beauty queens.
In the southern Israeli city of Beersheba on Saturday (November 1) twenty young women of the fuller figure variety took to the catwalk in the annual 'Fat and Beautiful' beauty pageant, now in its 15th year.
Their weights fluctuated between the minimum required of 80kg (176lbs) to 120kg (264lbs).
All the contestants seemed happy with their bodies, and were not afraid to pile on extra pounds by eating pastries just before the show.
Eliyah, a 22-year-old taking part, said they were proud to be "big and beautiful."
They were competing, she said, "for inner beauty, outer beauty, anything and everything."
The night's winner, however, was one of the smallest participants, weighing a mere 80kg (176lbs). Twenty two year old Khani Yirmiyahu from Beersheba received the crown from last year's winner, and maintained that each woman should love her body regardless of her size.
The new queen is currently studying for her university entrance test, and works in the Israeli train company. She loves music, makeup and is currently single.
Stars of the evening, apart from the new queen, were big-girls-band 'Oh Mama'- consisting of five former contestants. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
