- Story Text: To kick off its fifth anniversary, WE Channel's "Bridezillas" held a competition in Times Square June 3 (2008) for 10 lucky ladies for the chance to win 25,000 U.S. dollars towards their dream wedding and honeymoon. 10 brides, all dressed in gowns and white helmets equipped with veils gathered at the starting line to race up a 10 foot giant cake slice.
Meghan Gressler, of Basking Ridge, NJ, was the clear winner, racing to the top of the cake wall while other competitors struggled attempting to scale the frosting-covered slide.
Asked if she had any pre-planned techniques for scaling the cake wall, Gressler replied, "I just took off in the running and hoped that I could get ahead running because I knew the wall was going to be slippery."
She and her fianc, Derrick Libe, stood side by side with her 25,000 dollar check, which was presented by the WE Channel, which airs the television series "Bridezillas," now starting its fifth season.
Gressler said that she had fun at the event, but would probably not compete a second time. "I don't know if I would do it again, but I would definitely recommend it to other brides because it's really fun. The whole day was fun, even the competition."
She said that she plans to use the money towards her wedding and her home. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
