- Story Text: Canada reopened the CN Tower in Toronto on Wednesday (July 15), allowing visitors to scale the heights of the city.
Completed in 1976, the CN Tower - named after the railway company Canadian National who built the tower - was the world's tallest free-standing structure until 2007 and usually has more than two million visitors each year.
However, visitor limits are now in place to ensure social distancing during the coronavirus global pandemic.
"We've spent four months in preparation for this. We've done a lot of training of our staff, we've got a lot of safety features in place so we're really excited to be able to reopen and welcome guests back in a safe way," said the CN Tower's COO, Peter George.
Andrew Lubczuk, a travel blogger from the site wherewegoingnext.com, enjoyed the experience, saying "I was telling my wife it feels like a VIP experience almost so I recommend people come down, take advantage of the low crowd levels, so yeah, I felt completely safe so far. I love how they've put hand sanitizer stations up and things that like to make you feel safe, so I think it's been great."
