- Story Text: Algerian rider Drareni was declared the winner of the 10th cycling Tour of the Ivory Coast which finished on Sunday. He had held the overall lead for most of the fourteen stages. But the final 112-kilometre (70-mile) stage from Adzope to Abidjan, seen on this film, was won by Ivorian Mama Ouedraogo.
Sixty riders from Algeria, Cameroun, Congo-Kinshasa, Gabon, Ivory Coast, Niger, Senegal, Togo and Upper Volta and the Central African Republic took part in the 1,348-kilometre (838-mile) race.
Film of the closing stage was shot by Visnews cameraman Bill Woodman, who also covered the opening stage a fortnight earlier (Visnews Production 1851/71).

SYNOPSIS: In Adzope, Ivory Coast, there was tense atmosphere as local champion Mama Ouedraogo and Algerian top rider Drareni prepared to do battle int he fourteenth and last stage of the Tour of the Ivory Coast.
Kono of Cameroun was lying second to the Algerian on overall classification.
With more than 750 miles behind them, the pack set off of the last gruelling 70 miles to Abidjan. Sixty riders representing ten countries had started out from Abidjan a fortnight earlier, but quite a few had dropped out in the thirteen previous stages.
Halfway there, Ouedraogo sprinted ahead of the pack, taking a small group of riders with him, including Ali of Algeria and Tiga of Upper Volta.
They stayed ahead, and Mama Ouedraogo stormed home first, to the delight of his countrymen in the Sports Park at Abidjan.
Tiga and Ali were next past the post, but the Ivory Coast crowd was all for Ouedraogo.
The race honours were reserved for Drareni, the Algerian rider who had held the overall lead ever since he won the second stage. He received a cup, a green vest, and the congratulations of Ivorian Sports Minister Etienne Ahin.
Ouedraogo also received a cup, from Ivorian Cycling Federation president Julien Koffi.
