- Story Text: After a jubilant crowd of 80,000 gathered at the Bernabeu on Monday (July 6) to see Real Madrid's record 80 million-pound ($130 million) signing Cristiano Ronaldo wearing his new Real Madrid kit, fans can now purchase a Ronaldo shirt for 70 pounds ($112).
At the Bernabeu shop fans packed the floor on Tuesday (July 7) morning and made their way to the tills clutching shirts bearing Ronaldo's coveted number 9.
"Ronaldo is an incredible player and I am happy he is in Madrid, because thanks to him we will get the cup we have not been able to get over the past years," Jose Raul a young fan from Mallorca said as he held a Ronaldo shirt.
"He is the best player in the world and it means titles for Madrid, a very important signing - Ronaldo and Kaka," Jan, a Brazilian Real Madrid fan said.
Maricarmen also arrived early at the Real shop to surprise her son with a Ronaldo shirt.
"He's great, but for my son he is fantastic, he plays very well and he is very excited and I am going to give it to him - he doesn't know," she said.
The club has refused to say how many shirts have been sold because of its new signing, but local media say sales of Ronaldo shirts, released at 2100 local (1900GMT) on Monday, have surpassed sales of Kaka shirts.
Kaka was officially presented by Real Madrid, last week and Spanish paper El Pais reported that 3000 shirts bearing the Brazilian playmaker's name sold in the first hour - about 50 per minute.
