- Story Text: Japanese and Saudi Arabian Cabinet Minister have been meeting in Tokyo to discuss Japanese technical and economic cooperation with Saudi Arabia.
SYNOPSIS: Sheikh Hisham Muhiddin Nazer, the Minister of Planning, represented Saudi Arabia at the talks with Japan's Foreign Minister, Sunao Sonoda, and International Trade and Industry Minister Toshio Komoto.
It is the second time the two Governments have met to discuss technical and economic cooperation. The last time was in Riyadh in 1976. It is believed that the meeting mainly discussed Japans cooperation in a multi-million dollar plan to build a large petrochemical complex in eastern Saudi Arabia. Another main topic was supplies of Saudi Arabian crude oil to Japan.
Discussions on economic and technical cooperation problems between the two countries began in March 1975 with the setting up of the Japan-Saudi Arabia Joint Committee.
