- Story Text: Visitors to the show of German designer Guido Maria Kretschmer might be surprised to find themselves in a film in a few months time: On Wednesday (January 19), director Detlev Buck shot a few scenes for his new movie 'Rubbeldiekatz' live during Kretschmer's show.
The show itself enchanted audiences with its Paris inspired fashion fairy tale. Spheric sounds accompanied models clad in fine fabrics in mostly muted colours and artful cuts. Kretschmer, who is known for his exquisite and feminine creations told Reuters: "This is a big day today for me because I can show at my own location, I have that film set with Detlev Buck and to bring all that together is great. I am able to show my winter collection Boulevard d' Hiver and that is lovely because I know I can tell my own story," he said.
Kretschmer said the idea for his show came to him during a work trip the French capital: "The idea came when I was in Paris for work and it was early morning and I saw three girls just ending their night and they were sitting at the bus stop with hoar frost in their hair and smoking cigarettes. And I thought, this is my new show. The look of their hair and everything... so I quickly started to sketch everything down, and the place was called Boulevard Haussmann and so I called it Boulevard d' Hiver," Kretschmer said.
Kretschmer is known for his elegant essentials that complete every woman's wardrobe but also for his outrageous evening fashion. His label stands for femininity, elegance and the perfect fit.
And it is for this reason that his sometimes extravagant gowns have become his trademark. The gowns are made of Japanese silk, fine wool and highly elaborate embroidery in perfect craftsmanship in his own studio in Germany and in foreign affiliates. Fans of his work include Jane Seymour and Charlize Theron. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
