- Story Text: Robert Duvall, Sissy Spacek and Bill Murray arrived in Park City, Utah at the Sundance Film Festival on Saturday (January 23) to promote their latest collaboration, "Get Low."
The film, which also stars up-and-comer Lucas Black, tells the strange story of an aging hermit's desire to throw a funeral party, before he actually dies. The character of Felix Bush, played by Duvall, is based in part on an old southern folk tale about a man who lived in isolation for decades, spurring rumors and myths, who wanted to hear the stories that would be told at his funeral, while he was still alive to hear them.
The film is the feature length directorial debut for Aaron Schneider, who won an Academy Award for his short film, "Two Soldiers."
Robert Duvall was involved in the project from very early on and liked the result.
"They brought it to me, they came to my farm in Virginia and talked about being in it. It took about two, three, four years to get it going, rewrites and different things," said Duvall. "It appealed to us. All these remakes they are doing. It is not a remake, it is very original."
Sissy Spacek talked about how much fun it was to work with Duvall.
"He is incredible. He just is the character, you see it and you will understand. The man does not hit a false note," said Spacek. "In fact sometimes we would be doing a scene and and I would forget a line because I was mesmerized by him."
Bill Murray, the comedian of the group, was in good spirits despite the fact that he limped down the carpet on crutches. He talked about proper Sundance etiquette.
"I think the usual rules apply. You know good manners, neat crisp clothing, pull yourself together and look nice. Dress yourself as you want others to see you."
Also in attendance at the premiere was comedian Bob Saget.
The film has already been picked up by Sony Pictures Classics and is tentatively scheduled for release this summer. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
