- Story Text: The red carpet was overrun with celebrities at the premiere of the film "Valentine's Day" at Grauman's Chinese Theater in Los Angeles.
Actresses Julia Roberts, Jennifer Garner, Jessica Biel, Anne Hathaway, and Jessica Alba were all on hand to celebrate the film's debut with director Garry Marshall, along with actors Taylor Lautner, Bradley Cooper, and Ashton Kutcher, attending with his wife, actress Demi Moore. Julia Roberts' niece Emma Roberts also made an appearance on the carpet, and has a supporting role in the film as well.
The unusually high quotient of A-list actors in the film gave Marshall a cast that he knew could deliver the perfect Hollywood/romance concoction to all kinds of audiences.
"Great date movie, but girls can go together who are fed up with boys, boys who are fed up, they can go too," says Director Garry Marshall. "It's got all the love stories that I could think of that people go through, and it's done by very good actors, and some work out and some don't, but when you come see the picture, I think you'll be rewarded at the end, you'll feel good, and even if you're, 'I'm never dating again,' you're one of those people, you might date again and give it a try."
Drawn by the starry cast and the film's built-in date-movie cachet, weekend moviegoers might flock to see the Warner Brothers Pictures romantic comedy, which ties together several love-laden storylines in different locations.
For actor Bradley Cooper, who performed the majority of his scenes with Julia Roberts, it wasn't necessarily a celebrity-laden production.
"All my stuff was with Julia primarily, these ensemble movies you don't really get the chance to see anybody at all, actually," says Cooper. "I didn't meet Jamie Foxx or George Lopez or anybody until this press junket."
For Ashton Kutcher, Valentine's Day is a chance to keep romance involved in a relationship, even after years of being together.
"I think, you know, it's great to be reminded that you've got to step it up occasionally, because I think relationships, the tendency is to get caught in a pattern, where it's like I do the same thing every day, I come home, you do this, I do that, and sometimes it's great to have a day that just reminds you to like, change it up a little bit, do something special that sort of reignites that exchange," says Kutcher.
Actress Jennifer Garner believes the film will be a success with young women, but also cherishes the message that romantic comedies generally promote.
"I do, I buy into romance in general, and I buy into the idea that every Valentines Day, you stop and you kind of hit the reset button on your relationship, and you say sweet things, and saying sweet things begets saying sweet things," says Garner.
Also starring in the film are actors Jamie Foxx, Patrick Dempsey, Topher Grace, Eric Dane, and Carter Jenkins, Hector Elizondo and actor George Lopez, along with Actresses Shirley Maclaine, Kathy Bates, Queen Latifah and singer Taylor Swift.
