- Story Text: Ensemble comedy "What To Expect When You're Expecting" premiered in London on Tuesday night (May 22), with stars Cameron Diaz, Chace Crawford and Matthew Morrison on the red carpet.
The film, adapted from the non-fiction New York Times best-seller of the same name, revolves around five inter-connected couples dealing with pregnancy and adoption.
Cameron Diaz spent months on set wearing stuffed bras and prosthetic pregnancy bellies to mimic the various stages of her character Jules' pregnancy in the film. Speaking to Reuters Television, she said she was in fake labour for many hours, filming the birth scene.
"Oh that was like a day and a half of shooting so we literally yeah, I was pushing a lot - pretend pushing anyhow, so yeah. We wanted to create in that scene, it's that moment where everything becomes real where the baby is there, it's with you, It's a big moment for the characters."
British singer Cheryl Cole got a loud reception on the red carpet from fans - despite only having a minor role in the film.
Cameron Diaz was complimentary about the 28 year-old's first acting part.
"I think she's pretty savvy when it comes to being on a set and knowing how to handle herself. She played it beautifully. She was fun and entertaining and for us, she provided a great energy for the set."
Glee star Matthew Morrison's character Evan, fathers Diaz's baby after the pair's dancing partnership in a TV talent show, heats up.
The actor told Reuters his father helped prepare him for the film - along with some work experience he did as a teenager.
"Well my Dad is a midwife. he delivers babies every day. When I was 18 years old I got to go - I guess it was take your kid to work day? And I went in and I helped him deliver a couple of babies."
Gossip Girl's Chace Crawford plays a food truck chef who gets a rival chef pregnant after a one night stand.
The actor said despite the film's no holes barred look at pregnancy and birth, he's still interested in becoming a father.
"No it hasn't put me off. I mean the movie is a little bit like birth control but I left the way I came in. I can see myself being a father one day - in the distant future."
The film also stars Jennifer Lopez, Elizabeth Banks, Dennis Quaid and Brooklyn Decker.
