- Story Text: Italian design duo Ter et Bantine has shown a spring-summer 1999 collection in Milan that had a Japanese theme, with clothes cut loose, geometric and boxy.
Giorgio Armani presented a soft feminine line where grey was the dominant colour, and Byblos was both utilitarian and exotic.
At Tuesday's (October 6) fashion shows in Milan, the Italian design duo Ter et Bantine unveiled a minimalist collection with a Japanese theme.
Knee-length dresses looked like elegant kimonos, made from either cotton, silk or soft leather. There were backless halter tops, held in place with criss-crossing straps, worn over knee-length skirts or pants were wide and cut below the knee.
Japanese geometric purity was combined with modern fabrics and colours for an unusual collection that stood out amongst the many slick and commercial collections shown so far this week. There were also wide-pleated skirts with big stripes of black, pink and orange.Ter et Bantine is a husband-and-wife design team that started showing its clothes in 1993.
Giorgio Armani's diffusion line, Emporio Armani, presented a soft, delicate collection where grey was the predominant colour. For a very sensual look, skirts ending below the knees were paired with short jackets in blue, pink and grey.
The Byblos spring summer 1999 woman's collection was both utilitarian and exotic, using both safari and military look.
Fabrics were cotton and khaki, and colours were mostly white and tan.Pants were short and wide.
