- Story Text: With 100 days to go until the start of the 2012 Olympic Games in London, the British ambassador in Chile bade a formal farewell to the Chilean athletes heading to the competition.
The group went to the British embassy for a reception with Ambassador Jon Benjamin. The countdown to the London Games has been going on since last year, Benjamin said.
"We've been hosting a number of events ever since March of 2011 when there were 500 days to go to the Olympics. We've had tremendous support from the Chilean Olympic Committee.
There's tremendous interest here and we hope that for everyone in Chile it's going to be a spectacular occasion with some national success for this country as well," he said.
Benjamin bestowed pre-Olympic medals on the group and wished them well in their various sports.
Tae kwon do fighter Jenny Contreras said she was looking forward to the challenge.
"I feel comfortable, my nerves aren't bothering me. I have trained as much as I can to enjoy the moment. I believe that if I feel this way, the result will come on its own," she said.
